The French rugby team, that this next Saturday has a tournament commitment Six nations against Scotland, suffers a wave of positives for covid-19, with five new cases announced this Monday by the French Rugby Federation (FFR), in addition to the previous 9.
They are the Stade Toulousain players Cyril Baille and Peato Mauvaka; of those from Toulon Romain Taofifenua and Charles Ollivon; and Brice Dulin, from the Stade Rochelais.
These positives have been detected after another 9 members of the national team tested positive in recent days.
They were the coach Fabien Galthié, in addition to his deputies William Servat and Karim Ghezzal, a physical trainer and the players Antoine Dupont, Mohamed Haouas, Gabin Villière, Arthur Vincent and Julien Marchand.
Faced with these new five casualties, the selection has called up Gaëtan Barlot, Thierry Paiva, Cyril Cazeaux, Baptiste Pesenti and Thomas Ramos.
All the members of the team have undergone a PCR test, so the situation may evolve in the coming days, indicated the FFR, which specified that the team’s concentration is scheduled for next Wednesday.
If the sports director, Raphael Ibañez, ruled out this Sunday the delay of the match against Scotland, several media indicate that the organization of the Six Nations tournament does not rule out that possibility if the health situation worsens.
