Carlos Alcaraz and Pablo Carreño this Thursday they won their respective games against the Portuguese Joao Sousa and Alejandro Davidovich on the first day of the 25th anniversary tournament of the Juan Carlos Ferrero-Equelite Academy, in Villena (Alicante), played with a limited audience and with strict security protocols.
Murcian Carlos Alcaraz, 17 years old and Ferrero’s pupil, remade after conceding a blank set at the beginning to end up winning Sousa 0-6, 7-6 and 6-3.
Alcaraz and Sousa are in the David David Ferrer Group ’that completes the Australian Alex de Miñaur, number 26 of the ATP ranking and which debuts this Friday against the Portuguese.
In the first game of the Juan Grupo Juan Carlos Ferrero ’, Pablo Carreño from Gijón, 25th in the world, beat Alejandro Davidovich from Malaga by 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3. This group is completed by the ilicitano Mario Vilella, who this Friday plays against Davidovich.
The best of each group will play the final on Sunday.
