The Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) recalled this Tuesday that N1 vans, without the DGT environmental label, will not be able to circulate in the Rondes BCN Low Emission Zone (ZBE) from next Thursday, April 1, when the sanctions moratorium ends.
However, the entity and the five metropolitan municipalities that make up the LEZ have agreed that owners of vans without an environmental label who have bought a new vehicle before April 1 to adapt to the regulations will be able to circulate temporarily with your old vehicle through the restricted area if you have not received the new one before the end of the moratorium.
The AMB has detected that, in some cases, there are delays in the delivery of new vehicles and has made the decision “taking into account this situation and some requests received along the same lines.”
The metropolitan body has recalled that the measure will be applicable as long as the new vehicle complies with the regulations of the ZBE Rondas BCN (it must have an environmental label from the DGT) and has been acquired before the entry into force of the penalty regime for N1 vans; that is, before April 1, 2021.
The accreditation procedure for these specific cases will be carried out through the same metropolitan registry.
The AMB has advanced that the same procedure will also apply to large vans, trucks, buses and coaches (N2, N3 and M3), whose moratoriums also end in 2021.
