At the suggestion of DFB coach Stefan Kuntz, the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) has announced the 19 players for the Olympic soccer tournament from July 22 to August 7 in Tokyo and they have done so in anime format.
The squad includes Nadiem Amiri (Bayer 04 Leverkusen) and Maximilian Arnold (VfL Wolfsburg), two players who, along with Stefan Kuntz and the German Under-21 team, celebrated the European title in 2017. Max Kruse (1. FC Union Berlin) completes the trio of players born before December 31, 1996.
Also on the Olympic team are seven players who won the European Under-21 Championship in Ljubljana a month ago: Niklas Dorsch (KAA Gent), Ismail Jakobs (1. FC Cologne), Arne Maier (Hertha BSC), Amos Pieper (Arminia Bielefeld), David Raum (TSG Hoffenheim), Anton Stach (SpVgg Greuther Fürth) and Josha Vagnoman (Hamburger SV).
