The postponed Juve-Naples will be played on March 17

The Juventus-Naples match, corresponding to the 3rd round of Serie A and postponed in October, will be played on March 17 at 6:45 p.m.), as reported by the Serie A League in an official statement on Wednesday.

The meeting was not played on October 4 because Naples could not travel to Turin by decision of the Local Sanitary Finance (ASL) competent for some cases of contagion by coronavirus in its staff.

Initially, the Sports Judge ruled a 3-0 administrative win over Juventus and punished Napoli with a penalty point in the table, but after months of legal battles and resources, he decided to find a new date for the match.

It was considered that, although technically the sanitary protocol of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) allowed the match to be played, it was more important to preserve public safety and limit risks as much as possible.

Thus, Juventus-Naples will be played on March 17, the day on which Torino-Sassuolo is also scheduled, postponed last Friday due to nine cases of contagion in the Turinese squad.

The Sports Judge of Serie A will also analyze in the coming days the case of Lazio-Torino, which was not played this Tuesday as the Turin team was blocked by the competent ASL for having nine positive elements for coronavirus, some of them with a variant English.

Torino has already announced through its president, Urbano Cairo, that it will present an appeal to avoid the administrative 0-3 defeat and the penalty point in the table. Juventus is now 3rd, 7 points behind leaders Milan. Napoli, who play this Wednesday at Sassuolo’s home, is 6th, 13 behind the rojinegros.
