Nice, stuck in the middle of the standings after two games without a win, found victory again after beating Montpellier (3-1) at the Allianz Riviera, which took a step back in their European aspirations.
Everything was decided in the first half. Montpellier took the lead after three minutes with a goal from Gaetan Laborde from Andy Delort but the Nicaraguan team responded three later thanks to Algerian Hichem Boudaoui after receiving a ball from Kasper Dolberg.
The irruption of Alexis Claude in the final stage before intermission was providential for the whole of Romanian Adrian Ursea. The local midfielder led to Jean Clair Todibo’s goal in the 39th minute and then signed the third a minute later.
The scoreboard did not move afterwards and Nice added a victory that accommodates them in the middle of the classification. Armenian Michel Der Zakarian’s team is now eight points behind Marseille, which marks the European zone.
