The contagion curve continues to decline in Catalonia

The contagion curve of COVID-19
continues to decline in Catalonia, where the risk of regrowth (EPG), the index that measures the growth potential, stands at 170.97 points – yesterday it was 174.96 points – although in the last 24 hours another 1,193 have been reported and eight more people have died.

Data published openly by the Department of Health also indicates that the number of hospitalized people has dropped -now 719, six less than the day before- and ICU admissions -131 people at this time, one less than yesterday-.

The speed of reproduction of the disease (Rt) has also decreased slightly, up to 0.94, which means that, on average, each infected person infects less than one person.

Although the EPG continues to fall – today it is 174.96, similar to that of three weeks ago – it is still considered high, since it is above 100 points.

Thus, the accumulated infections since the beginning of the pandemic, according to data from the Ministry, are already 140,560, of which 117,546 have been detected by PCR tests.

Deaths caused by this virus in Catalonia amount to 13,103: 7,934 have died in hospitals or social health centers, 4,172 in residences, 831 in homes and 166 deaths have not yet been classified.
