The Competition Committee dismissed the allegations presented by the Villarreal against the red card that was shown this past day to Capoue during the match that the ‘groguet’ team played and won against Eibar in Ipurua (1-3). Capoue has been sanctioned with a suspension match.
According to the minutes of the match, directed by Catalan Medié Jiménez, the yellow player was expelled 80 minutes into the match for “hitting an opponent with his foot with use of excessive force in the dispute of the ball ”.
In its brief of allegations, Villarreal argued that “There was no impact with the player’s foot expelled in a contrary, which is equivalent (…) to the existence of a manifest material error ”. In its resolution, the Committee explains that “there was, according to the club, a fortuitous crash as a result of inertia that should not have been worth a red card.”
Competition does not consider the existence of a ‘Manifest material error’In the drafting of the minutes, the only reason for which this type of claim is admitted, which is why it proceeds to suspend the player for one game.
Villarreal can appeal the decision of the Committee before Appeal within ten days. Villarreal receives Cádiz this Sunday at La Cerámica (18:30).
For his part, José Javier Jiménez Orzáez, delegate from the club, was suspended for two parties for protesting the expulsion of Capoue.
