Tatiana Calderón starts the season in Japanese Super Formula in Fuji

The Colombian women Tatiana Calderon will begin this weekend, at the Fuji circuit, his season in the Japanese Super Formula.

As explained by her communication team, Tatiana Calderón “seeks to build on the experience gained during the previous season in the most competitive single-seater category in Japan, together with the same team she competed with in 2020, ThreeBond Drago Corse.”

Tatiana Calderón will drive the same Dallara SF19 from the previous season, equipped with a Honda engine.

After completing four training sessions last week, the Colombian is looking forward to the start of the second season of her adventure in Japan.

“I can’t believe that my second season in Super Formula is finally starting this week. We had a week to prepare for the race after having completed two days of testing at Fuji and we hope to be able to concretize in improvements what we learned in the tests to start with right foot, “he commented.

Calderón thanked “her constant support to ROKiT, Maisy Kay, Bandero and the Ministry of Sports” and announced that she will be an ambassador for AVL RACING.

“We have already been working together in recent years using their simulator in Austria and now I will also have their assistance on the track. I am very happy to have them,” he said.

The season will begin at the Fuji circuit, the former site of the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix, with a race scheduled for 41 laps.

Last year Tatiana Calderón achieved the fifth fastest lap there in the final race of the season and he returned for two days of testing in December and two more this year, making Fuji an ideal setting to start his season after more than three months without racing.

On the other hand, for this season the Super Formula has introduced some changes in the regulations.

The allowed use time of the system known as OTS for its acronym in English (overtake system) is increased, a button that temporarily alters the power of the engine. It can no longer be used for 100 seconds but for 200, which is expected to increase overtaking during the race. In addition, the classification, instead of taking place on Sunday, will take place on the Saturday afternoon after a single free practice.
