Sainz, bittersweet flavor: Better sensations but without a last great lap

Charles Sainz the session ended classification of British GP
F1 2020
with sweet and sour flavor. He knows that he could have been higher than the seventh final place he achieved. I had clearly outnumbered Norris throughout the weekend and in the ‘qualy’, but finally, he lost a little the car behind “in two or three corners when driving” that made him lose key time on the straights, something that prevented him from “qualifying more up”. However, the Spanish took the positive side of having managed to be seventh without having managed to join his best sectors in his last turn, and above all, for the step forward given with a car with which he assured in ‘Movistar F1’ to feel every time more comfortable, something that was repeated at the online press conference held by the team.

ASSESSMENT OF THE CLASSIFICATION OF THE GP OF GREAT BRITAIN

“It was a good classification from the point of view of the car. The car was going quite well, it was quite comfortable with it, better than in other Grand Prix, so happy. It seems that we have improved a little my feelings with the car ”.

“In Q3 I didn’t do the best lap I could do. I have gone behind in two or three corners pulling and that has made me lose on the straights for a long time and that is why we have not been able to qualify a little higher, but still, seventh with a lap not very good, so to see what we can do tomorrow. ”

GOOD LAP IN Q2

“There was still room in the car. As you have seen in Q3 we have still improved a lot, a couple of tenths, and that I have improved a couple of tenths without putting a very good lap, so there was margin. The only thing, nothing, to continue working on the sensations with the car that seems that this weekend have improved a little and make sure that we continue in this direction, that we do not lose ourselves, because I am improving a little sensations.

THIS SUNDAY’S CAREER

“The track has changed a lot from yesterday to today, so what we learned on Friday is worth nothing, so it will be a bit of a toss. We are going to see that it is going to be more difficult, it seems that the front wheels are going to suffer more instead of the rear wheels ”.

STRATEGY: WILL GO OUT IN THE RACE WITH THE SOFT RUBBER

“Starting on soft tires will be a challenge. It will be a very difficult first stint ”.

“You have to differentiate my personal feelings with the car and the overall performance of the car. Tomorrow we are confident that we can have a good career together. The only difficulty will be starting on soft tires and it will be a disadvantage. ”
