Girona and Sabadell drew 0-0 at Montilivi in a match in which the visitors clearly went from less to more and in which they deserved to take all three points. Juan Carlos was the best of the Girona team and avoided defeat for his team, who missed the absent Samu and Stuani. Sabadell, for its part, continues in clear upward dynamics and comes out of the decline.
The first Catalan duel of the year in the Second Division started with Girona showing why it is above the ranking. But this was just a mirage. A fast-paced start in which Francisco’s men enjoyed up to two clear scoring chances before the 10th minute, but both were met with the same result, a great intervention by Ian Mackay. The first was a shot from Yoel from the edge that, despite touching a defender, was met with a good reaction from the goalkeeper. A few minutes later came the clearest of the first half in the boots of Mamadou, who volleyed from the apex of the small a great center of Calavera and forced Mackay to shine.
Sabadell’s nerves were diluted, Antonio Hidalgo’s team began to gain ground against Girona little by little and, although he did not shoot on goal in the first forty-five minutes, he put fear in the body of Girona with a central shot by Néstor Querol who walked inside the area and to which Víctor García did not reach by millimeters.
Moments before this arrival of the visitors, the referee had annulled a goal from Girona for offside by Aday Benítez, who had finished off a rebound from a young age after another great intervention by the goal of Sabadell with a header from Pablo Moreno.
Sabadell left with better feelings at halftime, but after the restart Francisco’s men took a step forward again. although again the same, without being decisive and vanishing completely in a few minutes. AND
At 61 ‘, Stoichkov threatened Girona again with a long ball that he won behind the Gerona defense, but his shot, after having surpassed Juan Carlos and staying at a low angle, went wide. From that moment those of Antonio Hidalgo were no longer going to stop being the dominators of the match and those who were going to deserve the three points. Stoichkov, again, was able to put the first for his team in a header at the far post that Bernardo had to deflect. He again forgave Girona, this time Juan Hernández, who shot too weakly and Juan Carlos stopped without problems.
Francisco’s men ended up blurred and suffering as has rarely happened, but between Bernardo, Santi Bueno and the goalkeeper himself saved a point.
