Ryan Giggs pleads not guilty

The former winger of Manchester
United, Ryan
Giggs, appeared in court on Wednesday and denied having assaulted two women, including an ex-girlfriend whom she accuses of coercively controlling with violence.

Giggs, 47, pleaded not guilty from the dock at Manchester Magistrates Court in his first appearance since being indicted earlier this month. The announcement of the charges led Wales to decide that Giggs would not coach the national team at the European Championships in June.

Giggs was released on police bail in order to appear in Manchester Court today. His conditions of bail are that he must not communicate with the two women or go to any address where they are. The former footballer denied causing actual bodily harm to his ex-girlfriend at his home on November 1, 2020. He is also charged with assaulting the woman’s sister on the same day.
