Rubiales proposes changes to the current LaLiga format

Luis Rubiales, president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), announced this Wednesday, during his appearance at Los Breakfasts de Europa Press, that he will propose to his counterpart in LaLiga, Javier Tebas, a modification in the current format of the maximum Spanish competition.

The objective, according to Rubiales has commented, is to make “LaLiga more attractive.” The proposal reduces the number of matches and raises the possibility of playing some games on neutral ground.

“You have to ask for respect. Thebes and I are not going to think alike. Of course I agree to carry out some pacts for football. In the next few days I will invite Tebas to change the format of LaLiga. We have changed the format of many competitions. With respect we are in a position to present a different, more attractive format, with fewer games and more free days on the calendar. Neutral venues, fewer days … and of course you can study playing a game away ”.

In this regard, Rubiales also discussed the issue of Viana’s pacts with Javier Tebas, and did not want to give it more thought. “Everything agreed has already been published in the BOE correctly. I want to thank Alejandro Blanco for the Argürelles pact, which has been definitive for him to solve the problem of non-professional football, valid also for all non-professional sports. And that was thanks to Alejandro ”, said the president of the Federation.
