The goals of Mario Suárez and Yacine Qasmi in the first half and another by Isi Palazón in added time of the second half, all with a header, allowed Rayo to win the Madrid duel against an Alcorcón that paid dearly for its defensive errors and that with the defeat returns to relegation.
The doubts with which Rayo faced the game dissipated in the thirteenth minute, when Baby put a free-kick from the right and Mario Suárez, alone in the area, finished off from head to goal in the face of the passivity of the Alcorcón defense.
The potter team tried to recover from its defensive error to try to find a tie and wanted to be the protagonist by taking the offensive initiative at the pace set by the Nigerian Kelechi Nwakali, but it hardly created danger in the final meters because Iván Barbero and Dani Ojeda were very unassisted.
A genius of the Peruvian Luis Advíncula, who made an individual play on the right wing and put a measured center at the head of the Moroccan Yacine Qasmi, who finished head to goal, extended the advantage of Rayo and left Alcorcón on the canvas just before of rest.
As soon as the second half started, Laure stole up front, Barbero opened for Dani Ojeda and he put a low cross at the far post for Marc Güal to finish in the race to the bottom of the tights. However, after celebrating the goal, Alcorcón’s spirits fell when the VAR annulled the goal for an offside prior to the start of the play.
The second part was completely the domain of the potter. The offensive changes made by Juan Antonio Anquela, who ended up playing with only two defenders, were good for Alcorcón, who began to multiply his approaches on the rayista goal and was able to cut distances at 81 minutes with a free-kick from Oscar Arribas that skipped a pole.
In added time, Isi Palazón rounded off Rayo’s triumph by taking advantage of another error by the pottery defense and heading a corner kick.
With the victory, Rayo maintains sixth place with 49 points and Alcorcón, with 30, falls back to relegation as nineteenth classified.
