Mauricio Pochettino, coach of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), hopes to count on Kylian Mbappé this Tuesday for the Champions League semi-final return against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Etihad. Mbappé was low on Saturday in the victory against Lens (2-1) due to a contracture in the right calf and is doubtful for the second round against the ‘citizens’ (who won 1-2 on Wednesday, April 28 in the Princes Park).
However, he points out that Mbappé, together with Neymar, a great figure of PSG, will be able to play the second leg. Pochettino declared on Saturday “optimistic” about the recovery of the star grances. At the Etihad, the Argentine coach will not be able to count on Idrissa Gana Gueye, who will miss the match due to suspension after being sent off in the first leg. Danilo Pereira or Ander Herrera can replace Gueye, unless Pochettino chooses to delay Marco Verratti.
PSG will have to overcome the 1-2 achieved by Pep Guardiola’s men if they want to play their second consecutive Champions League final. The Gauls lost 2020 (the first in their history) in Lisbon against Bayern (0-1 and who were left out in the quarterfinals).
