The Italian Football Federation announced today that it has reached an agreement with the British authorities so that, unlike its team’s round of 16 matches against Austria and the semi-finals against Spain, a thousand fans from Italy can travel to London to attend the final of the European Championship on Sunday at Wembley.
The agreement contemplates that this quota of fans should not be quarantined upon arrival in England, although they will have to stay home for five days upon return. In exchange, the thousand followers must undergo a PCR test before taking the flight from Rome or Milan and will only stay in London for a maximum of 12 hours respecting the bubble at all times since they will use airplanes and means of transport organized by the Italian Federation of Football and in the stadium will be located in a specific sector.
Italy will also have the support of some 6,500 fans residing in the United Kingdom.
Rome proposes to open the Olympic stadium
The entire Italian country vibrates with its national team and, after eliminating Spain by penalties, it prepares to live the grand final on Sunday in which the ‘azzurra’ aspires to win the second European Championship in its history after the one won in 1968.
Such is the expectation that Virginia Raggi, mayor of Rome, today asked to open the Olympic stadium, which was the scene of the three matches of the first phase of Italy in the Eurocup, so that the fans could witness the final there through giant screens ” with a reduced capacity to respect anti-Covid measures ”.
Raggi addressed his request to the Italian Olympic Committee, which owns the stadium, via Twitter. “It would be an excellent way to cheer the‘ Nazionale together, “he concluded his message.
