Nuno Espirito Santo, Wolverhampton coach, has been fined 25,000 pounds (27,600 euros) by the English Football Federation (FA) for citing the work of referee Lee Mason after a Premier League match. Also, the agency warned the Portuguese coach about his behavior from now on.
Nuno criticized Mason on December 21 after the defeat of his team at the Burnley field by 2-1, assuring that he hoped that he would never again referee a Wolves game and that “he did not have the quality to whistle a game in the Premier League ”.
In its statement, the FA reveals that Nuno has admitted that his comments “constituted inappropriate behavior as they were personally offensive” to Mason and had discredited football.
Wolves occupy 13th place in the Premier League standings and this Friday they will host Crystal Palace in the 1/32 final of the FA Cup.
