Nantes lose at home but avoid relegation

Nantes asserted the victory by 1-2 in the first leg of the playoff and, despite losing in their field, Stade de la Beaujoire by 0-1, managed to stay in Ligue 1, while Toulouse escaped the ascent.

Patrice Garande’s team won an insufficient victory and will play another year in the second category of French football.

Antoine Kombouaré’s Nantes were saved thanks to the double value of away goals. That served him well against an opponent who intensified his attack when he took the lead but who saw his chances reduced in the final stretch when he was left with ten players due to the expulsion of Nathan Ngoumou.

The only goal of the match came at game time when a pass from Amine Adil was culminated by Ivorian Vacoun Issouf.

This is how the ascents and descents remain

The scoreboard did not move any more and Nantes, third to last at the end of the season, achieved permanence. Nimes and Dijon, penultimate and last respectively in Ligue 1, are the only ones to be relegated.

Troyes and Clemont, first and second in Ligue 2, will play in the French top division next season.
