Nadal withdraws from the Rotterdam tournament

The organization of the tournament Rotterdam ATP, of category 500 and which is held from March 1 to 7, has announced this Thursday that Rafael Nadal, who was going to be the main favorite for the title, will not finally participate in the tournament for not having recovered from the back problems that affected him during the Australian tour.

“Unfortunately, Rafael Nadal must withdraw from the 48th ABN AMRO World Tennis tournament. The back problems who started to suffer in Australia, they advise against playing next week ”, has announced the tournament organization. “Daniil Medvedev, number 3 in the ATP ranking, is now the first seed of the tournament,” added the organization.

This circumstance may have repercussions on the world ranking. If Medvedev wins the tournament, he will overtake the Balearic in second position qualification, a circumstance that already escaped the Russian after losing the last Australian Open final against Djokovic.

Despite this, Nadal will not force his physical state, despite the fact that he was able to complete his participation in the first Grand Slam of the season smoothly. In it he fell in the quarterfinals against Stefanos Tsitsipas in a long match that reached the fifth set.
