Muguruza: ‘I want to get out of here with as many matches as possible’

Garbiñe Muguruza pointed out this Thursday, after beating the French Kristina Mladenovic in the first round of the Abu Dhabi WTA tournament, that he wants to finish the championship “with as many games as possible”.

“There are two victories. It’s great to have won two games. The sensations have been uneven since the surface is very fast; there is a bit of height, it is windy and you have to be very fine. I want to get out of here with the largest number of games possible “, said Muguruza referring to his victory in doubles on Wednesday and this Thursday in the singles, by 6-2 and 6-4.

“I am very happy because it has been the first game for many months and you never know how it will go. But I am happy to have this victory in my pocket,” she said about the victory against the Frenchwoman.

“I started playing somewhat uncomfortable, without moving well, but little by little I came into play, moving better and dominating little by little. On these courts you have two options: you dominate or you spend the game running, and I like to dominate. The courts they are fast and the one that manages to take the step, look for the opportunity first, is the one that is going to win, “he added.

“Looking forward to playing the second round,” Garbiñe continued about her next match against Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (90 WTA). “I have not played with her, but there is a lot of information to be able to know her before the game. It is the first tournament of the year so I do not have many expectations, only to play as many games as possible,” he concluded.
