Mercedes starts sweeping Formula E with De Vries

The Dutch Nyck de Vries (Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team) achieved victory this Friday in the inaugural test of the Formula E World Championship, contested on the Saudi street circuit of Diriyah, and he did so after dominating the two free sessions, qualifying and the Superpole.

De Vries, 26, facing his second experience in the electric motor car championship, the first Diriyah e-Prix of the season with 4.119 seconds of margin over the second, the Swiss Edoardo Mortara (Rokit Venturi Racing), and 4,619 over the third, the New Zealander Mitch Evans (Jaguar Racing).

First race of the year in Formula E

The actual champion, the portuguese Antonio Félix da Costa (DS Techeetah), he qualified eleventh, after starting eighteenth, 16,225 seconds behind the winner in the first night race of the contest.

This Saturday the second round of the championship takes place, again in Diriyah.
