Madrid notifies five new coronavirus outbreaks

The General Directorate of Public Health of the Community of Madrid has notified this Saturday to the Ministry of Health five new outbreaks with a total of 74 infected with coronavirus, 217 contacts in follow-up and one death.

In a statement, the Government headed by Isabel Díaz Ayuso communicates that the new outbreaks occur in the towns of Leganés, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid, San Sebastián de los Reyes and Alcobendas.

The first outbreak, which originated from a meal that brought together 22 members of various families, has been detected in Leganes, with 19 positive cases, three contacts in follow-up and one person hospitalized, the Community has specified in a statement.

The second has been located in a social health center in Pozuelo de Alarcón, with 21 cases and 30 people in follow-up. One person has required hospital admission and a resident of the center has died. The outbreak affects sixteen residents and five workers.

The third focus has originated in the Gregorio Marañón University Hospital, with fifteen cases – four with symptoms and the rest asymptomatic – of which thirteen are patients and two are professionals from the center. In total, 81 close contacts are being followed in the hospital and in the family environment, all without symptoms.

The fourth that has been notified corresponds to the outbreak that forced the closure of the V Centenario Health Center in San Sebastián de los Reyes, with 11 positive cases and 66 contacts (work, family and social) in follow-up. The center is closed for the moment.

The fifth outbreak has occurred in Alcobendas, in a group of social activity with eight positive cases and 37 people under follow-up.
