Laporte, ‘very grateful’ for the call for the Spanish team

Aymeric laporte, defense of Manchester City, has been “very grateful” for being summoned by Luis Enrique Martinez, coach of the Spanish team, for the Euro 2020.

“Very grateful for the trust placed in me by the coaching staff for this exciting Euro 2021 I am very proud to be a part of @sefutbol and I am looking forward to the moment to join this incredible team, “he posted on his social media.

Two weeks ago the Council of Ministers approved the nationalization of Laporte, born in the French town of Agen on May 27, 1994, who arrived at Athletic at the age of 15, where he stayed until the end of January 2018, when City signed after paying 65 million euros of his termination clause.

The left-handed center-back was part of the lower French teams (11 times with the sub’17, 9 with the sub’18, 12 with the sub’19 and 19 with the sub’21), although he had not played with the second French team since on March 24, 2016 against Scotland in Angers. He never did it with the absolute.

Subsequently, the FIFA Player Status Committee approved in turn the change of association of the City center back at the request of the Spanish after having achieved that nationality, sources from the highest world football organization informed Efe.

His inclusion in the list of summoned by Luis Enrique is one of the novelties in the list of 24 announced this Monday by the national coach.
