KTM announces its continuity in MotoGP until 2026

KTM announced a 5-year extension contract with Dorna to be present in the MotoGP World Championship. The Austrian brand joined the premier class in 2017 after its successes in the lower categories. For two full years, four RC-16 have been pushing for the best results in MotoGP, and the fruit of concessions and enormous progress, especially after the signing of Dani Pedrosa as a test pilot and the great development carried out together with Pol Espargaró, that this year begins his new adventure with the team Repsol Honda, the signature of Mattighofen he conquered his first great successes in the highest category of world motorcycling in an atypical 2020, showing himself in the fight for everything constantly, first with the triumph of Binder in Brno and later with two more victories than Oliveira (with Tech 3 satellite team) in Styria and Portugal. To these must be added the 5 podiums of Pol Espargaró.


The company achieved its first podium in MotoGP at the end of the 2018 campaign, but it was not until 2020, as a result of the hard work of Pedrosa and Espargaró, when the mark was placed at the level of Yamaha, Ducati or Suzuki, all of them capable of fighting for podiums and triumphs in a year of enormous equality among the majority of competitors.

KTM finished fourth in the 2020 MotoGP Constructors’ World Cup behind Ducati (221 points), Yamaha (204) and Suzuki (202), with a total of 200 points, beating Honda by 56 points, fifth before Aprilia, which only achieved 51 points.

After this very Wednesday Red bull announce that it will stop supporting the satellite team of KTM, the Tech 3, came the news of the 5-year renewal of the Austrian firm with Dorna.

Remember that this year KTM will have Brad Binder and Miguel Oliveira as official pilots, while the main novelty will be the incorporation of Danilo petrucci as a whole satellite next to a Iker Lecuona that this course should take a step forward.
