HOW ARE YOU PHYSICAL AND MENTALLY
“With desire. These two and a half years have not been easy for me. In the end I have been away from the team for a long time, from day to day and it is not easy. You are used to training with your teammates, spending many moments with them and, unfortunately, I have spent many moments alone, with the physios and the recuperators and they have not been easy moments. Let’s see if this year the injuries respect me. So far I have done two workouts and I feel comfortable. We know that we still have a lot of training sessions ahead of us, but the first feelings are good. I am looking forward to sharing these moments with the team again “
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM THESE INJURIES?
“Everything is hard. You’re not used to being away from the team for so long and there have been tough moments. In the end we know what an injury is, we have all experienced some, but sometimes it gets complicated. You spend more time than you want off the field, the annoyances are still there and you turn your head a lot. In the end time puts everything in its place and everything heals over time, but it is hard because you go in, go out, you still have discomfort, you keep working and in the end the time to feel good comes and let’s see if this is the year. These first two workouts went well, without discomfort and I am comfortable. You have to keep a cool head, always look ahead and go back to dreaming of good times ”.
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM THE REAL?
“Last season was very good for everyone and this year’s objective is that, to improve last season and that’s what we are going for. We know that last season was very good and it will not be easy to improve it, but the team in these two days is eager, it is a very professional team, we are training very well and we know the potential we have. We demonstrated it last year and we want to continue to demonstrate it this year. It will not be an easy season, we have three competitions and it will not be easy, but last year we already showed that we have a very good, competitive squad and we will all have to be plugged in because the season is long, there will be moments for everyone and we know that the strength of this team is the collective ”.
HOW HAS YOUR SUMMER BEEN?
“Last season I ended up with a sprain, it wasn’t strong but it left me out of the team and my desire has been to disconnect and also strengthen my body a bit. In these two and a half years I have been working outside the team, but individual training is not like group training. In summer I have worked on my own to arrive physically well and I think I have arrived well, without discomfort. I have used the summer to work but also to disconnect. I like sports and I have practiced some and now I am eager to start ”.
DO YOU SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL?
“Yes. Hopefully! because I have seen enough light and in the end there was always darkness. I hope that the light now lasts much longer at the end of that tunnel “
HOW DO YOU VALUE THAT THE SAME TEAM AND THE SAME COACH CONTINUE?
“It is not easy to maintain ambition in a team from one year to the next to be at the top, but I think the coach does a great job in that regard. On a day-to-day basis, he always wants us to have that point of improvement, that we maintain competitiveness, the ambition to be at the top. In recent years we have taken steps forward as a team and as a club and we have to maintain them. We know how much it has cost to get here and to achieve the objectives we know the path: you have to have ambition, work day by day and although sometimes the results do not arrive, we know the path ”.
ARE THERE NEEDLES?
I’m fine for the moment. These days are to pick up the rhythm and the laces will begin from now on, as the workouts will be harder. It is what it touches and the preseason is for that, to prepare the body for the season. If they don’t come, better but we all go through that ”.
WHAT FEELINGS DID YOU HAVE WHEN SEEING YOU AGAIN?
“Happiness. In the end, some of us have been together on vacation but others have not. There are people from outside who have been with their families and in this team, in addition to colleagues, we are friends. We have gotten together we have told each other what we have done, where we have gone and we are happy to get back together “
“We already know him. From the first day he is marking that point of demand and that is the way it has to be. He leads the way and we follow him because we know how far he has taken us. We are looking forward to being here and everyone moving forward ”.
HOW DO YOU SEE SEASON?
“It will be difficult because in the end we will play two games a week, although that is a good sign. We are looking forward to playing in Europe with our team and although we know that the year was not easy, we are preparing well and there is no doubt that we will be well prepared. Last year we showed that the squad was capable of playing two games a week even though there were physical problems. The template is ready. No doubts. Last year we showed what we are capable of and this year we will continue ”.
HOW DO YOU VALUE THE START OF THE CALENDAR?
“The first game against Barça we know that at home. It will be a difficult game, but last year we showed that we gave them a fight even though the result was not good. They have many players with their national teams, their preseason will not be like ours but sooner or later you have to play against them. We know that we are going to compete and for them it will not be an easy match ”.
HOW DID YOU SEE YOUR COMPANIONS AT THE EURO?
“Mikel at the beginning was entering from the bench and has gone from less to more. They went to the streets on penalties, but the season and the Euro Cup that has been done have been very good. He will not have much rest, luckily he will go to the Olympic Games and see if neither he, nor Martin, nor Mikel get injured because they are important to us. Isak has done very well in the Euro Cup, we know what he is capable of, it seems that he will be with us for a few more years and we are happy because he is a very important player for us ”.
