The president of the Real Betis, Angel Haro, who witnessed live this Sunday’s triumph at the Ramon de Carranza before him Cadiz, in the company of the vice president, José Miguel López Catalán, and the club’s sports director, Antonio Cordon, among others, appreciated the good moment the team is going through since the beginning of the year 2021, which has allowed it to reach the sixth place and have the fifth within reach, after cutting ten points from the twelve disadvantage that it came to have with the Royal Society. “We are satisfied. But we also think that we have to go game by game. Logically, finishing sixth would be good, a great position. If we were fifth it would be better, but it is difficult. The team is very good, whoever comes out does it well. But this is football and it changes things in less than a month, “said Haro during an interview with Onda Cero’s El Transistor about the current Betic classification and short-term objectives.
Haro also spoke about the renewal of Joaquín, who ends his contract in June and plans to continue playing at age 40: “As long as he continues to feel like a player, he will continue. He still has soccer left. When the time comes we will focus and fix it soon. I would like him to stay in the club for what he represents. He is very committed to his Betis and I want to have him by my side ”.
The Betic president was also questioned by the Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Silva, who ends his contract with Granada and the Verdiblanco club has signed as of July 1, although out of respect for the player and the Nasrid club he did not want to reveal anything: “He is a goalkeeper that interests, but right now he is focused on his Granada. He is a goalkeeper that we like a lot, ”said Haro.
Regarding the open negotiations with the staff to adjust salaries to the Covid crisis, he indicated the following: “I have had a couple of meetings with them. Last year the reduction was two and a half percent and we avoided an ERTE. We are negotiating with the players, I think the predisposition is good. They are perfectly aware of the situation, they are aware and I think they will help. We have a significant drop in box office income. There is no complaint about Betis because they always respond ”, he explained.
Haro also made reference to the rivalry with Sevilla, which they will visit in two weeks: “15 or 16 years ago they began to have good inertia in sports, they did well. In our case, there were problems that led to a contest, we have lost time that we are going to recover. Sooner or later we will be there. We must go step by step. Betis, due to the social dimension it has, must be at the top ”.
