Ilkay Gündogan, Manchester City midfielder, appreciated the victory against Borussia Dortmund that takes them to the semi-finals of the Champions League, the first since Pep Guardiola’s arrival on the bench.
“This qualification means a lot to us. This club, this team, deserves it and we are grateful to join the semi-finals for the first time (since the arrival of Pep Guardiola), ”he said on BT Sport.
“Today we had to show character. We played well for 15 minutes, we were not brave enough, we were afraid of losing, it was quite visible. But after the goal (from Dortmund), we got into the game, we managed to keep the ball more, create chances and at half-time, the goal was to score and recover the game. And that is what we managed to do, we are proud ”, added Gündogan.
“We know how difficult this competition is, the rivals have a lot of quality, like Dortmund. They are capable of beating anyone, but it is a question of attitude, of personality, especially at this stage of the competition and we have shown that we are prepared to fight even in the semifinals ”, he said.
