From the Champions to the red lantern

The grenade, eighth to two points in the Europa League and qualified for the eighth finals of this tournament, where they will be seen with the Norwegian Molde, is setting a historic season. Those of Diego Martínez already accumulate 40 official matches on their legs but they continue to perform at a level that allows them to keep the bar of illusion very high as the season prepares for its final stretch.

However, the excellent overall performance of the Andalusian team has a lunar when, at least in league competition, he acts like visitor. Because if as a local it adds 24 points, the same that Real Madrid has achieved, and would be fighting to unseat the whites of the fourth place In a hypothetical classification, as a visitor the panorama is very different.

So much so that from that fourth square shared with those of Zidane as locals, those of Martínez fall until … The last square! in a classification made by counting the games played as visitors. There, Granada has only added nine points, the same as Getafe, Alavés, Elche and Huesca. However, all of them improve their general coefficient of goals as a visitor, which would relegate the Andalusians to the red lantern from the table.

Andalusians do not win at home since last year. Specifically, from the past December 13th, when they beat Elche 0-1 at the Martínez Valero. Since then they have tied two of the six games they have played away from Nuevo Los Cármenes, losing the remaining four, with a scoring balance of 14 goals conceded and just seven scored.

Is the ‘other side’ of a Granada that, if they make up these numbers as a visitor, they could be aspiring to be truly historic but that, in any case, they do not detract from the great season that the Nasrid team is doing.

So is the league classification, counting the games played at home:

Team / Pts. (diff. goals)

1. AT. MADRID / 29 (19)
