F1 season may not start in Australia

The pandemic puts in serious doubt the celebration of Opening GP of the 2021 Formula 1 season in Australia. The calendar published by Liberty Media months ago had foreseen the start of the new course of the ‘Great Circus’ for March 21 in Albert park, plot in which last year the F1 finally he could not run, having to cancel the appointment the same Friday in which the free practice of the first race of 2020 was due to be held due to several positives by coronavirus in the team Mclaren. Now, that appointment could be postponed, finding a new location for it throughout the course. This measure would be taken with enough time so that a situation similar to that of last year would not be revived, all due to the tightening of local restrictions and confinement rules.

The specialized publication ‘Motorsport.com’ ensures that the first race of the year will be postponed. And in that sense, as published by ‘Reuters’ later, F1 sources consulted by the news agency about said news, assured that the campaign will start in March anyway, although without wanting to specify if the first race will be held in Albert park As planned.

“In 2020 we demonstrated that we could compete safely and achieved what many thought in March was impossible. We have established our 2021 calendar and we look forward to the return of F1 in March this year, ”says the source quoted by‘ Reuters ’.

On the contrary, the organizers of the Australian GP did not want to comment on the news.
