Europe and permanence as objectives

Villarreal and Cádiz meet at La Cerámica in pursuit of a victory that will keep the locals in the fight to compete next season in Europe and that the Andalusian team will serve to take a step towards remaining in the category.

Reaching the league break with good feelings is essential for both teams. In the case of Villarreal because more points cannot be left in La Cerámica, where they have not won for more than two months, while Cádiz would advance towards the forty in which this year permanence could be encrypted.

Villarreal has already overcome, with the victory in Eibar and the Europa League tie won against Dinamo Kiev, the crisis of defeat in extremis at Mestalla, but is aware that the points to be played at home are fundamental and even they could be definitive.

Villarreal coach Unai Emery maintains the casualties of Vicente Iborra, Francis Coquelin, Gero Rulli and Pau Torres, who are still injured, to which is added that of the sanctioned Étienne Capoue, while he has recovered players such as Mario Gaspar or Alberto Moreno, who are already on the summoned list.

With all this, the possible starting eleven could be made up of Sergio Asenjo in goal, with a defensive line integrated with Juan Foyth, Raúl Albiol, Funes Mori and Alfonso Pedraza. In the center of the field can be Dani Parejo, Manu Trigueros and Moi Gómez, who would be accompanied in attack by Gerard Moreno, Carlos Bacca and Samu Chukwueze, since Paco Alcácer has discomfort.

Cádiz, for their part, faces a displacement for the second consecutive week after the draw against Alavés (1-1), a result that keeps them six points behind on the relegation places.

The team from Cádiz, which has had two consecutive games without losing and has only lost one of the last four games, wants to endorse its recovery at Villarreal.

The previous bad streak suffered by Álvaro Cervera’s men, with four consecutive defeats, made them touch the relegation places, from which they want to remain separated with a comfortable income.

For this match, Honduran striker Anthony ‘Choco’ Lozano, who was injured against Éibar two days ago and is still recovering from a sprained ankle, will be dismissed.

Argentina’s central defender Marcos Mauro, who was injured against Alavés, will also be absent, so Rafael Giménez ‘Fali’ would regain his usual position.

On the other hand, the right back from Elche Carlos Akapo returns to the call, who has been injured for two months and will be on the bench as an alternative to the usual starter, Iza Carcelén.

The absence of the latter in Vitoria was a headache, since Cervera had to align in that position first the central defender Fali and then the winger Salvador Sánchez Ponce ‘Salvi’.
