The A521, driven by power unit Renault E-Tech 20B this year, it’s a evolution of the RS20 from last year and the core structure is a continuation of 2020. The team has worked hard during the winter months to adapt to the new FIA demands, for example adapting to changes in aerodynamic rules, with the work of development at the rear of the car.
The car left the garage and headed to the track minutes after 09:00 a.m. local time for its first lap and did so with a short delay due to the low morning fog in Northamptonshire. Esteban kept going, completing 16 laps of the 5,891 km Grand Prix circuit.

After getting off the car, the Frenchman made his first impressions of the A521, Esteban commented: “Today was a lot of fun. First of all, it was nice to get back in the car on a track like Silverstone, as it is always something special. The car felt good to drive for the first time and we managed to complete our program as planned. There was a slight delay this morning due to the fog, but once it cleared the track was dry and that made the race very enjoyable. I wish I could drive more than 100km, but that’s the limit, and I’m leaving here with a smile on my face. We want to bring that to Bahrain next week when conditions are more representative with race tires and some heat. All in all, it was a very interesting day and I can’t wait to find out more about the car. I have to say that I love the new colors. It’s the hottest car on the grid! ”
