Depay asks the French government to let him play with his country

Memphis Depay is one of the many players who will not be able to play a game with their national teams. In the case of the Dutch striker, Lyon will not yield to him despite being summoned by Frank de Boer for the match, qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, which on March 24 will face the Netherlands against Turkey in Istanbul.

The refusal is part of the agreement reached by the French Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs not to release their internationals for the matches that their teams play outside the European Union. In this way, they will not have to comply with a quarantine upon their return, according to the sanitary regulations adopted by the French government to fight against the spread of Covid-19.

It is in this context that Depay, FC Barcelona’s goal for next season, has published a message on social networks urging the Executive of Emmanuel Macron to relax his restrictions.

“Please, can I join my national team on Monday? That would be fair since you make an exception with the French national team, which also travels outside of Europe to play, ”Depay writes, addressing the French government, taking into account that the ‘bleus’ will have no problem playing on March 28 his party in Kazakhstan.
