In Italy the coach dance has started. On the same day that Gennaro Gattuso said goodbye to Napoli a few hours before signing for Fiorentina, Roberto De Zerbi, who a few days ago announced his departure from the Sassuolo bench, was introduced as Shakhtar Donetsk’s new coach.
De Zerbi, considered at the age of 41 as one of the most promising coaches in “Calcium” after his remarkable seasons at the helm of Sassuolo, has traveled to Kiev in the last hours to sign until 2023 for Shakhtar Donetsk.
De Zerbi replaces the Portuguese Luis Castro, who in April announced his departure at the end of the season after assuming office in the summer of 2019. Shakhtar have given up their hegemony in the Ukrainian league as, after four titles in a row, Dinamo Kiev have been proclaimed champion and has also won the Cup.
De Zerbi does not just come to the Ukrainian club from Sassuolo. Although in this case his signing is not official, the Italian press advances that the center-back Marlon Santos, who played for Barça in 2017, will also join his 26-year-old at Shakhtar, a club that continues to bet on Brazilian players given the great performance sporty and economical that they are giving this part some time.
