One of the biggest criticisms of Manchester United comes to an end. The English club, finally, has incorporated a sports director, John Murtough, who will work together with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the signing of players.
Murtough, who had spent seven years working at the youth academy, is joined by former United player Darren Fletcher as manager.
As the club explained in a statement, Murtough will work with Solskjaer to determine the transfer strategy as well as other functions.
“Create structures, processes and culture to develop success on the field,” added United.
Ed Woodward, United Executive Vice President, noted that the team has taken “steps forward” in the way it conducts its soccer operations and that the benefits of this are being seen in the talents who are debuting with the first team.
