The Brazilian women’s soccer coach, the Swedish Pia Sundhage, He showed this Sunday his skills as a singer by interpreting, guitar in hand, the adaptation he made of a song by the renowned artist sertanejo Alceu Valencia, to cheer the Canarinha.
The video in which he interprets the song and explains how and why he made the adaptation, has been a sensation on social networks, since the Swedish coach published it on his Twitter account.
According Sundhage, lhe Annunciation song sounded one day when they were in the concentration together with another of the team’s coaches and he realized the strength of the melody.
It was then that the Swede decided, in a joking tone, to change one of the phrases of the chorus of the song and include “set piece”, a term used for rehearsed plays with the ball set, such as taking a foul or a corner kick.
It is not the first time that the Swede uses a melody to encourage her players.
In her first meeting as head of the United States women’s team, in 2007, as soon as she entered the locker room, she looked at the athletes and began to sing the lyrics of The Times They Are A-Changin, by Bob Dylan.
The American artist seems to be one of the affections of the Swede who in April last year, before accepting the position in the Brazilian team, sang another of his songs during an event to which she was invited by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
