Barnes, from Burnley, was arrested after achieving the permanence of his team

The Burnley players celebrated their team’s mathematical permanence in style when they beat Fulham last week. But the party had consequences for some of them, as Ashley Barnes was arrested for failing a breathalyzer test.

The 31-year-old forward was taken into custody by Wilmslow police at 3 a.m. on Monday, May 10, as he was driving home in his Mercedes. The player came from going out for drinks with his teammates and did not pass the breathalyzer control, which is why he was arrested.

Barnes was released on bail and is due to appear in court on June 14.

The event infuriated the coach, Sean Dyche, who made them play only 25 ‘in the defeat suffered at the hands of Leeds and left him without minutes against Liverpool on Wednesday.
