Andy Murray will participate in an edition of the exhibition tournament Battle of the British which will also include women. The tournament will be organized once again by Jamie Murray, Andy’s brother, and will take place on the courts of the National Tennis Center in London from July 27 to August 2.
They will form two teams of 12 British players, chosen by a captain, who will fight for points in singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches. Eight games will be played per day on outdoor courts, unlike the first edition of this exhibition that was played indoors. There will be no third set and the matches that have to be decided in the final set will do so with a super tiebreaker of ten points.
“Both Andy and Johanna (Konta) have given me their intention to play if they are able to do so”Jamie pointed out.
This may be the last chance for British players to compete before the circuit returns. The ATP tournaments will begin on August 14 in Washington, while the WTA intends to return in early August with the Palermo tournament.
