The Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova and the czech Barbora Krejcikova, third and fifth seeded, respectively, asserted their status as favorites to meet in the quarterfinals of the tournament in Strasbourg.
Alexandrova, 33 in the WTA ranking and who last year debuted her record with the title in Shenzhen, won the French Clara Burel by 6-3 and 6-4. It will be measured in the quarterfinals against the Czech Barbora Krejcikova, a finalist this year in Dubai and who defeated the French Caroline Garcia in three sets 3-6, 6-2 and 6-1.
The session was starred by dropouts.
