0-1: Newell’s beats a Palestinian ‘headdress’ in the end

A goal from midfielder Alexis Rodríguez at minute 92 gave a key victory to the Argentines of Newell’s Old Boys this Tuesday against the Chilean Palestinian during his visit to the El Teniente de Rancagua Stadium, on a date valid for the third day of the group stage of the Cup
South American.

They looked for it all the game and it arrived at the end: the shot of the midfielder of the ‘leper’ team surpassed the goalkeeper Cristopher Toselli and gave three gold points to Newell’s de Rosario, which was located in the third position of the Group with four points and still in the race for qualification.

Palestino, on the other hand, was practically eliminated from the continental tournament, still without adding after losing to Libertad in Paraguay and at home to Atlético Goianiense of Brazil.

The commitment disputed in El Teniente did not have great lights, but it went from less to more. Newell’s Old Boys generated multiple scoring opportunities, but Luciano Cingolani and Ignacio Scocco were able to define comfortably. Palestino had a low first half, without generating chances.

In the second half, the Rosario team came in more orderly and made deep attacks that worried Toselli. Those of José Luis Sierra, suffering under multiple arrivals of the visitors, energized their midfield with the income of midfielder Carlos Villanueva and Luis Jiménez to try to gain possession of the ball.

But despite dominating the distribution of the ball, with 63% of possession, Palestino could not reach and only registered a shot at the rival goal.

Those of the ‘Mono’ Burgos must travel to Paraguay to face Libertad, while the four tetracolor will travel to Brazil to face Atlético Goianiense.
